Mr Horne is the Housemaster at Lathallan and is responsible for all the boarders during the week and at weekends.
Originally from Hertfordshire, Mr Horne attended the University of Durham where he gained a BA in Sports Science. He then chose to complete his teacher-training diploma in Edinburgh.
Keen on sport from a young age, Mr Horne played cricket for Essex and became involved with rugby at University. In addition he has qualified as a Level 1 and 2 UKCC approved Rugby, Cricket and Strength and Conditioning coach
“I think encouraging young people to get involved in sports is very important,” said Mr Horne. “I always enjoyed playing sports as a kid, and realise now how many great skills youngsters can get from being involved. They can benefit from working together; gaining confidence which develops their personalities on and off the pitch”.
After successfully completing his probationary year and gaining experience of working with young people as a Development Officer, Mr Horne has taken up the position of Teacher of PE and Games at Lathallan School.
“My first impressions of Lathallan School were how welcoming everyone was and how polite and friendly all the pupils are. I also loved the fact that there is so much space for games; I can’t see how anyone wouldn’t be inspired to take part in sports when there’s such great grounds right on their doorstep” smiled Mr Horne.
