Ranjit Fernandez, Business & Computing Science
Having grown up in Hillside and Montrose, Mr Fernandez lived in Edzell as a teenager while his father worked as the local GP. Mr Fernandez completed his MBA from Heriot Watt University, he went on to gain his Masters in Computing from the Open University.
Teaching appealed to Mr Fernandez, and he went onto undertake his postgraduate teaching qualification at the University of West of England in Bristol. After teaching for some time, Mr Fernandez relocated to Valencia, Spain where he taught at the American School. Later, Mr Fernandez had the opportunity to take up the position of Head of e-learning and IT at Doha College in Qatar.
Upon moving back to Scotland, Mr Fernandez worked at Mearns Academy, and as the Head of Business Studies and IT at Blairgowrie Academy.
Explaining how he decided to join the Lathallan School team, Mr Fernandez said “I have a family connection to Lathallan. My sister-in-law was the Matron here years ago, and my four children attend the school.”
“There’s a lot of positives about Lathallan School” continued Mr Fernandez. “I love the small class sizes; it gives us teachers such a great opportunity to give pupils more time in each lesson which gets the best out of each pupil’s potential. There’s a real scholarly atmosphere which might be due to the high expectations set for all pupils in discipline and achievements. The School takes good care of its pupils and staff, and I think that adds to the happy atmosphere.”
