Nicola Orr, House Mistress and Guidance
I grew up not far from Lathallan School in the scenic countryside of Glamis and attended school in Kirriemuir. This is where my passion for working with young people developed as I, as a senior pupil, spent time helping in junior PE classes, organising house competitions and volunteering at a local primary school. I also developed a keen interest in many different sports and competed at junior national level at curling until the age of 20.
I gained a BEd in Physical Education at Moray House in Edinburgh before going on to teach at Montrose Academy for four years. During this time I split herself between Physical Education and being a form tutor which led to gaining experience in pastoral care.
Joining Lathallan School as Head of Pastoral Care and House Parent gives me a great opportunity to get to know all young people at the school. I have found pupils and staff at Lathallan to be very friendly and felt very welcome when I first arrived.
Dividng teaching time between PSHE and PE also gives me great variety in my day and allows me to enjoy the beautiful grounds. My aim is to ensure all pupils feel happy and supported in their learning and hope they leave here full of confidence and inspired to find success in all aspects of their life.
