Charlene Mathieson, Teacher of French
I graduated from Nottingham Trent University with a BA (Hons) in Modern European Studies having spent my third year teaching English in Lyon. I then went on to spend another year teaching in France and have on return enjoyed careers in both the voluntary sector and HM Revenue and Customs. It was, however, through my own voluntary work, with youth theatre groups and underprivileged children, that I realised teaching was where my heart lay and so completed my teacher training at Huddersfield University in 2005 and my PGCE with the University of Northampton.
Before moving to Scotland I taught French for 6 years at Hurworth Academy in Darlington and became Raising Achievement Coordinator for both Year 7 and Year 8. Since heading North of the border in 2013, I have spent the last two years teaching at Aberdeen French School whilst also delivery French lessons in the nursery here at Lathallan.
I feel very fortunate not only to have found myself in such a beautiful part of the world but to have also been offered the opportunity to teach in such a unique setting.
